Shipwrecked

On the rocks

Beached

A hole in the hull

Saltwater pouring in

Masts broken

Sails torn

Bodies bobbing like corks

The dead and the dying

Surrounding the living

Let hope arise

Let love show itself in action

Let the lifeboats come

Don’t let fear overwhelm

Or the scale of the need halt you

Press in, press on

Raise the dead

Bring healing in Jesus name

Release comfort, freedom, joy and love

Restore people

Rebuild the boats

For harbours are safe

But that’s not what ships are meant for

“My children, our love should not be just words and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action.”  1 John 3:18 (GNT)

  1. We may wreck our ship but Christ is always there with his lifeboat ready to pull us in if we reach out to him. Then once we are restored, we can go out there and help him rescue others. What a wonderful picture, Michelle! Thanks so much for writing this poem!
